Adeola accuses Obasanjo of leaving the APC for the PDP after refusing to reimburse campaign expenses, calling her request “insulting” and alleging that Obasanjo’s move is driven by personal interest rather than service to the state. He also argues that defectors to the PDP after May 10, 2026, are legally unqualified to contest for the 2027 governorship race.
Obasanjo, who is reported as the PDP’s Ogun Central senatorial candidate, responds by denying Adeola’s claims and branding him “a liar.” She says her team asked Adeola for three items: a Senate seat, a refund of campaign expenses, and the inclusion of her supporters in his campaign. According to Obasanjo, Adeola did not meet any of these requests, later offering money to keep her in the APC. She adds that she was pushed out through the APC consensus process, alleging exclusion and intimidation of her supporters. Reports also say Obasanjo returned to active politics last year, with billboards across Abeokuta, before formally joining the PDP.
