West African leaders endorse a plan to build the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP), a large infrastructure project intended to transport natural gas from Nigeria toward European markets. According to reports, the initiative is supported by regional leaders and is designed to carry Nigerian gas across multiple countries along Africa’s Atlantic coast. The pipeline is described as roughly 6,000 kilometers long and expected to traverse about 13 countries.
