Nigerian troops conducting counter-terrorism operations under Operation Hadin Kai arrest two foreign nationals in Borno State. The reports say the arrests occur in the forest area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, carried out by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion. The Army identifies the first suspect as Musa Fashir, a 32-year-old Sudanese man, described as a suspected foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator. The second person is Mary Florence, a 36-year-old Ghanaian woman, who is described as an illegal immigrant.
According to the Army’s acting military information officer, Capt. Muhammed Goni, the arrests are made at about 11:48 a.m. on July 19, 2026. The authorities state that preliminary intelligence suggests the Sudanese suspect has links with terrorist elements and that Florence’s presence in the area is being investigated to verify claims regarding her immigration status. Both individuals are reportedly in military custody for profiling and interrogation to determine their identities, activities, and any possible connections to terrorist or transnational criminal networks. Citizens are urged to continue sharing credible information with security agencies.
