Asda is seeking approval to redevelop its existing Park Royal site in north-west London into a new supermarket “superstore” and adjoining housing. The proposal would convert the current site into a retail development with about 60,000 sq ft of store space. Around the superstore, the plan includes residential blocks providing up to 1,500 flats. The buildings are described as reaching up to 35 storeys in height. The Daily Mail reports that the plans have drawn concerns that the scale of the development could put pressure on local healthcare services, including general practitioners (GPs).
