Sony Pictures has scheduled the horror film “Skeletons” for a summer 2027 theatrical release on June 4, 2027. The project is directed by JT Mollner and stars Brie Larson. Multiple outlets report that the film is a creature-feature horror story with a modern take on the sub-genre. The narrative is told from the perspective of a young boy, who gradually realizes that his beloved parents are concealing a disturbing secret about his mother’s true nature.
The sources also describe the film’s path to Sony. Sony acquired the movie earlier this year after a bidding war at the European Film Market, and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is credited as producing the project. With the release date set, Sony moves forward with a theatrical rollout planned for the summer 2027 calendar.
