Samsung Electronics launches a new robotics organization, the Robotics eXperience (RX) Business Office, to consolidate its previously distributed robotics research and development efforts under a single unit. Multiple outlets report that the RX office reports directly to CEO Roh Tae-moon, aiming to streamline mid- to long-term strategy, core technology development, and commercialization. The company positions robotics as a future growth pillar and says the structure is intended to speed up decision-making and execution as robotics markets evolve.
The unit is based at Samsung’s Seoul R&D Campus and functions as a robotics hub while the company expands related offices and laboratories. Quartz and other coverage add that Samsung plans to establish research hubs outside South Korea, including in the United States, China, and Japan.
At least one outlet also reports that Samsung is organizing specific leadership inside the division, including appointing Lee Dong-geon, previously associated with robot strategy work from Boston Dynamics during his time at Hyundai, to lead a robotics strategy team.
Overall, sources agree the move centralizes Samsung’s robotics capabilities, strengthens commercialization planning, and expands international research presence.
