A viral video has sparked debate around Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, who is shown at a Burger King outlet in a nearby mall while the party’s “Chalo Sansad” protest is underway in Delhi. The clip resurfaced after the march, and commenters questioned why a senior functionary was not at the protest site as supporters faced police action on the streets. The timing and circumstances of the video have not been independently verified.
Dahiya responded on Instagram, saying he had been working for about a month and had not slept for days, and argued that eating a burger is not wrong if someone is hungry. He also addressed criticism about his colourful attire and participation in the march, saying he left after the march and that people focus on superficial issues. In a later explanation, he claimed he did not consume the burger after learning it contained refined flour and trans fats.
CJP subsequently sacked Dahiya from the spokesperson role and removed him from official duties, calling the actions “deeply insensitive,” inconsistent with the movement’s values, and a matter of “complete lack of judgment.” The controversy follows wider online criticism involving other CJP figures amid heightened tensions from clashes during the protest.
