Microsoft and French AI startup Mistral announce an expanded “multibillion-dollar” partnership aimed at increasing AI computing capacity in Europe and making Mistral’s models available through Microsoft platforms. The companies say the deal extends an existing collaboration involving Mistral’s Paris-based operations and Microsoft’s cloud services. As part of the agreement, Microsoft will fund and use a large portion of the compute infrastructure Mistral builds in Europe, which is intended to support Mistral’s AI model development and deployment at scale.
Across outlets, reporting aligns that Mistral’s AI models are set to be offered to Microsoft customers through Microsoft’s tools and services, including Microsoft’s AI assistant Copilot and related development offerings such as Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry.
