Instagram is rolling out a new feature called “Replace Audio” that lets users change the audio track on already-published posts, including both standard posts and carousels. Previously, if someone wanted to switch the song used in a post, the workaround was to delete the post and re-upload it with the new audio, which could affect the post’s existing performance. With Replace Audio, users can update the music at any time while keeping the post’s existing engagement and distribution, including likes, comments, shares, and reach.

According to reports, the feature is being rolled out globally. The published steps described for using it include opening the post, selecting “More Options,” choosing “Edit,” picking a new audio track, and tapping “Done.”

Both outlets frame the change as a way to make it easier to manage a user’s feed without losing the audience signals a post has already generated. The launch comes alongside other recent Instagram product updates from Meta, such as grid rearrangement and subscription-related features, though not all earlier changes have been received positively by users.
