Maruti Suzuki India says it has committed more than ₹1,372 crore toward dedicated “green logistics” infrastructure to expand rail-based vehicle dispatches. The company also reports that it has crossed 3 million cumulative vehicle dispatches through railways. Maruti currently gets 26.5% of its total outbound dispatches from rail, and it aims to raise the rail share to 35% by 2030–31. The company states that since 2014, the volume of rail-based vehicle dispatches has increased ninefold. The planned investment includes development of in-plant railway sidings at Maruti’s Hansalpur and Manesar manufacturing facilities, establishment of rail yards at key logistics hubs, procurement of specialized automotive rakes, and related support measures to strengthen rail logistics capacity. The disclosures are made in the context of scaling logistics while increasing the proportion of shipments moved by rail, rather than other modes.
