He was also associated with the Television Academy, and he represented prominent clients including Desi Arnaz, Bob Hope, Jackie Gleason, and The Jackson 5.
Several outlets note that Dern played a role in the early development of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), helping to incorporate the firm. He also contributed to business practices in TV production and distribution, including syndicated sales and pre-financing arrangements. Beyond dealmaking, he frequently served as an arbitrator in labor disputes, reflecting his involvement in industry-wide negotiations.
