Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar pays an emotional tribute to her late husband, Ajit Pawar, on his birth anniversary. In a social media post on Wednesday, she says the day—once marked by joy and family celebrations—now brings grief, and that she still struggles to accept his absence. She recalls Ajit Pawar as her “greatest strength” and describes his support, guidance, encouragement, companionship, discipline, and commitment to public service as continuing to live on through her memories and in how she carries his ideals forward.
The Pawar family also visits Ajit Pawar’s memorial near Baramati Airport to mark the occasion. Family members, including Sunetra Pawar, MP Parth Pawar, Jay Pawar, and others, offer floral tributes and remember his contributions to public service, infrastructure development, and social welfare, along with his leadership and vision for Maharashtra’s progress. Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash near Baramati Airport on January 28, 2026, while travelling for an official engagement. The tribute ceremony takes place as the first birth anniversary observed after his death.
