Rijiju argues that the Opposition is attempting to avoid debate by attaching conditions, and says the government is prepared to respond to demands raised in the House. He also says the discussion can be taken up under the applicable procedure and that details on how the debate will proceed should be decided through the chair’s process.
The comments come as the Opposition continues to press for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, linking their demand to alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exams and police action against protesters at Jantar Mantar. Congress President and Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge says there should be no discussion until Pradhan resigns. Amid the standoff, Rajya Sabha proceedings are disrupted and adjourned, with the issue remaining unresolved.
