Police are investigating an NHS mental health trust for alleged corporate manslaughter connected to the Nottingham attacks carried out in June 2023. The trust treated Valdo Calocane, who later killed three people in Nottingham. Sources report that Calocane, who has paranoid schizophrenia, was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order after the killings on 13 June 2023, which included the murders of two 19-year-old university students, Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley Kumar, and the 65-year-old caretaker Ian Coates. The investigation examines the circumstances around the care the trust provided to Calocane before the attacks. The BBC reports that the trust is facing a manslaughter probe. Sky News adds that relatives of one of the victims have reacted to the investigation, with one mother welcoming the police action.
