Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) report sharply lower standalone results for the June quarter and the first quarter of FY27. BPCL posts a standalone net loss of ₹3,962.13 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, down from a standalone net profit of ₹6,123.93 crore in the year-ago quarter. BPCL’s revenue from operations rises to ₹1,59,479.28 crore, up from ₹1,29,577.89 crore, while total expenses increase to ₹1,66,037.90 crore. The company’s standalone EPS is negative at ₹(9.27) for the quarter. BPCL attributes the loss primarily to suppressed marketing margins on certain petroleum products, partly offset by higher refining margins, and notes a cumulative net negative buffer of ₹15,803.74 crore for LPG as of 30 June 2026, with ₹1,898.49 crore recognised as revenue from a government compensation package.

HPCL reports a standalone net loss of ₹11,526.41 crore for Q1 FY27, compared with a profit of ₹4,901.50 crore in Q4 FY26. Its total income and expenses rise, with total expenses reaching ₹1,63,853.40 crore. HPCL records standalone EPS of ₹(54.17) and says it includes ₹1,980 crore of under-recovery compensation from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for domestic LPG sales. Both companies also disclose issues related to compliance with SEBI board requirements for independent (and, in BPCL’s case, women) directors.
