Erik Fleming, a drug counsellor who supplied ketamine that prosecutors said caused actor Matthew Perry’s death, is sentenced to two years in prison, according to multiple reports. Fleming is the fourth of five defendants in the case connected to the 2023 overdose of Perry, who was 54. He pleaded guilty to charges tied to the illegal distribution of ketamine, including distribution resulting in death, and had previously entered a guilty plea that made him eligible for sentencing consideration. Prosecutors seek a longer prison term, with one report saying they asked for 2½ years, and they describe the conduct as involving illegal distribution and, at least in part, a conspiracy to supply ketamine to Perry. Other reporting says the judge reduces the sentence because of Fleming’s cooperation with the prosecution, though not to the extent sought by defence lawyers. Defence lawyers in one sentencing memo argued for a sentence of three months in prison followed by residential drug treatment, characterising Fleming as having taken steps to atone. Courts ultimately impose a prison term of two years, with the judge acknowledging cooperation but applying a reduction short of the defence request.
