Actress Ayesha Khan, known for the show “Dhurandhar,” says Mumbai Police detained her on July 22 during a student protest near Jantar Mantar in Delhi-inspired CJP-related demonstrations. Khan posted videos on her social media, stating she was “just standing” on the road and had not started the protest. She also claimed she did not receive an explanation for the detention and questioned why officers asked her to get into a police van without clarifying the reason.
According to Khan, she and others had gone to support NEET students. She said that upon reaching the area, her brother and some male friends were detained and taken away, and she stayed nearby while trying to understand what was happening. She claimed that around 15 police personnel—10 male and 5 female—were involved when they asked the group to get into the van. Khan also said she and another detainee spoke to officers about unrelated personal concerns, such as an upcoming maths practical exam.
Khan further said they were taken to Worli police station and shared additional videos from there, while maintaining she still wants the reason for her detention.
