OpenAI is expanding its “ChatGPT Health” feature to more people in the United States, making it broadly available to logged-in users on Thursday. The rollout brings an option for users aged 18 and older to connect health data—such as Apple Health information on iPhone and, with permission, medical records from supported U.S. sources—so the chatbot can discuss and organize that information in context. Multiple outlets report that users can link Apple Health alongside other health platforms, including Function and MyFitnessPal, depending on what’s supported.

According to the reports, the feature is designed to help users understand trends and changes over time. Examples mentioned include comparing lab results across appointments, summarizing how information has changed since a medical visit, tracking medications, and exploring how sleep, activity, and workouts relate to health goals.

OpenAI also describes privacy and data-handling limits: connected health data is not used to train OpenAI models or target advertisements, and ChatGPT asks for user permission before using connected medical records and Apple Health data for personalization. The feature is available on web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, with the option to use the Health section without connecting records.
