Microsoft is asking LG to stop showing McAfee promotional pop-ups to some Windows 11 users with LG monitors. Multiple outlets report that the issue involves the “LG Monitor App Installer,” which installs a McAfee trial prompt or pop-up that users say appears automatically. After customer complaints, Microsoft applies pressure on LG. Windows chief Pavan Davuluri is cited as directing LG to disable the McAfee pop-up behavior. LG agrees to make an immediate change by turning off the McAfee pop-up from the Monitor App Installer.

Sources also note that the change follows user outcry about the software being bundled with the monitor experience and appearing via Windows Update. Microsoft says it is working with LG to improve the overall user experience for affected customers. In the meantime, at least one report advises users who may still have the installer present to manually uninstall the LG Monitor App Installer from Windows settings.
