Sandara Park, an ex-2NE1 member, says she has reached a major personal and artistic turning point after spending about 22 years in entertainment without creating and performing her own music. In an interview with Hankook Ilbo, Park reflects on a career that began with her debut and a long period of building her work in the Philippines, followed by moving to Korea. She later performed as part of a K-pop group and then went solo. Park describes herself as having taken on multiple roles over the years, including singer, television host, variety-show personality, and musical actor. However, she says the one thing she did not get to do was write her own music and sing her own songs.

She also links the delay to uncertainty about how to communicate her ideas to listeners. Park has stored stories and thoughts in smartphone notes and diaries, but felt she was missing a way to translate them into songs. Now, she says she is ready to move beyond established industry formulas and embark on a new phase focused on making music of her own.
