Indian judoka Tulika Maan, a Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, is provisionally suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for whereabouts failures and is withdrawn from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026. Multiple outlets report that NADA issued the provisional suspension after she recorded three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period, a breach that falls under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) whereabouts rules for athletes in the Registered Testing Pool. Under the rules described by the reports, combinations of three filing failures and/or missed tests within 12 months constitute an anti-doping rule violation, and athletes are required to provide detailed location information and be available for testing during a designated daily 60-minute window.
The reports say the decision rules her out of Glasgow while anti-doping proceedings continue, which could lead to a ban of up to two years if upheld. Sources also note that Arun Kumar, another Indian judoka, was previously withdrawn from Glasgow after receiving a provisional suspension linked to an out-of-competition positive test for an anabolic steroid. Maan is reported to be 27 years old and a +78kg competitor, with international experience including participation at the 2024 Paris Olympics and World Championships.
