In the first leg of the fifth-place playoff, the Philippines loses to Indonesia, 18-25, 17-25, 25-23, 19-25, placing them again into the Leg 2 match for fifth. After a slow start against Indonesia, the team wins only the third set, with Lirick Mendoza delivering his best performance so far, working with Jude Garcia and Joshua Magalaman.
In the second leg classification on Saturday, Alas Pilipinas rebounds and sweeps Myanmar, 28-26, 25-17, 25-23. Mendoza leads the scoring with tournament-best 21 points, including the game-winning kill. He records 19 kills, one block, and an ace. Louie Ramirez adds 11 points, captain Lloyd Josafat contributes nine, and Jian Salarzon finishes with six.
With the win over Myanmar, the Philippines secures its final fifth-place standing in the SEA V Cup tournament.
