Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is fully cleared to participate in training camp practices as camp opens, multiple outlets report. The clearance follows the recovery from season-ending injuries he sustained on Dec. 14, when he tore the left ACL and LCL. Yahoo Sports reports that Mahomes is not placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and is expected to take full practice repetitions during training camp. The Athletic similarly states that he is cleared to fully participate in practice and continues progressing toward being ready for the start of the regular season.
While all sources agree on full participation in camp practices, they note that his preseason game workload is not yet determined. Yahoo Sports and Forbes both say how much he plays in preseason contests remains up in the air, indicating that even with full practice clearance, the team may still manage his snaps or playing time. Fox Sports also characterizes his status as cleared for practice as he continues his post-injury rehabilitation.
