NDTV and The Hindu report that more than 6,000 pilgrims leave Jammu after the suspension ends. The Free Press Journal, citing officials, says no convoy is dispatched for the traditional Pahalgam route during this resumption period. Instead, pilgrims depart from Bhagwati Nagar base camp towards the Baltal base camp. The Free Press Journal also describes tight security arrangements, including a large vehicle convoy, and notes that authorities strengthen security measures along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as the route becomes operational again.
Other details reported include that the yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 28, and that by the time of resumption, several lakh pilgrims have already visited the cave shrine this season. Authorities also indicate that landslides and shooting stones previously led to closures on parts of the highway.
