Naver, South Korea’s internet portal operator and cloud services provider, receives a combined $10 billion investment commitment from Nvidia and U.S. private equity firm Brookfield to support its artificial intelligence data center project in the country. Company founder Lee Hae-jin says the funding will help Naver accelerate the initiative, speaking at an AI summit in San Francisco on Friday (local time).
Naver previously said it will collaborate with Nvidia to build large-scale, global AI infrastructure, starting with an expansion of its data center operations in South Korea. Under the reported arrangement, Brookfield has agreed to invest up to $9 billion in Naver. Nvidia’s portion of the total commitment is included in the $10 billion figure.
