In statements reported by multiple outlets, the government says the narrative is being circulated by opposition figures and does not reflect the administration’s security posture under Governor Nasir Idris.
The state government says it remains actively engaged in addressing insecurity through collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders. It adds that some security actions may not be publicly announced due to the sensitivity of intelligence and operational strategies, arguing that lack of public disclosure should not be interpreted as inactivity.
The government also states that it is working to protect residents’ safety and well-being, including supporting conditions for farmers to return to their farmlands. It warns politicians against exploiting security challenges for partisan purposes and calls for responsible public commentary.
The reports note that Kebbi, like other North-West states, faces attacks by armed groups, but the administration disputes that communities are being left defenseless.
