London’s Metropolitan Police say they are preparing extensive policing arrangements for two protests taking place on the same day in central London, including a Unite the Kingdom rally and the annual Nakba Day march. The Daily Mail describes what it calls a major operation, citing police plans that include armoured cars as well as the use of horses and police dogs, and mentions drones as part of the operational toolkit. The same coverage says police estimate attendance will reach roughly 50,000 for the Unite the Kingdom rally, which ends at Parliament Square, and around 30,000 for the pro-Palestine Nakba Day rally.
The two events are expected to draw large crowds in close proximity and on the same day, prompting heightened preparations by the Met.
