The 49ers announced that Shanahan’s injuries will restrict his participation at the start of camp when practices begin, with assistant head coach and offensive line coach Chris Foerster running the team at first. Reports describe Shanahan as suffering a concussion along with fractures to his nose and ribs and an injury to his hand. One report citing a person familiar with the injuries says Shanahan also sustained hand injuries, while another cites Palo Alto police and lists fractures to the nose, ribs and hand. CBS Sports reports Shanahan required more than 40 stitches to his face following the crash. The team’s first practice is set for Sunday, with coordinators Klay Kubiak, Raheem Morris and Brant Boyer also involved in day-to-day camp activities while Shanahan is unable to fully participate.
