Netflix officially announces that “Grown Ups 3” is in development. The third installment in Adam Sandler’s comedy franchise had been the subject of long-running rumors, with cast members David Spade and Kevin James previously teasing that a sequel was being considered. According to reports, Kyle Newacheck, who directed last summer’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” is attached to direct “Grown Ups 3.” The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline both say Newacheck has signed on to helm the follow-up and previously worked with Sandler on projects including “Happy Gilmore 2.” Deadline also reports that Netflix made the announcement during its Upfront presentation.
