Police in Manchester, Jamaica, say three people are fatally shot during an alleged shootout with police in Mandeville on Caledonia Road. Police report that about 4:00 pm on Saturday they were alerted to a robbery spree and intercepted a vehicle believed to be a getaway car near Horseshoe Curve. A police source says the occupants opened fire on officers, and officers returned fire, leading to a prolonged standoff and running gun battle.
In the reports, police say the woman and two men were taken from the intercepted vehicle and transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. The Jamaica Observer identifies the deceased as Lester Morris, Travis Baker and Sutania Boothe, also known as “Chun Chun.” Police also say two firearms were seized during the incident.
The reports add that the episode occurred in the vicinity of a previous double murder in which nursing student Deenekia Pounall and Sadefa Henry were killed in a taxi by a gunman who posed as a passenger.
