A survey released ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) finds that more Filipinos want the government to discuss solutions to ongoing national problems rather than focus on past accomplishments. The results, issued by public affairs and stakeholder relations firm EON, were based on responses from 1,200 participants, who were asked to choose up to three topics. The survey shows that 48.3% of respondents select “solutions to current national problems” as their top preference, making it the most chosen category. By contrast, “the administration’s accomplishments” receives the lowest support among the options, selected by 22% of respondents. The survey results are published one day before Marcos delivers the annual speech, which typically includes updates on government performance and plans for the next year. The two reports agree on the same figures and interpretation: public preference tilts toward forward-looking measures addressing current issues rather than a review of achievements.
