Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal says former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi is “another version” of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Lawal made the remarks in an interview with Symfoni TV released on Saturday, in response to questions about whether Amaechi has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and how Amaechi compares with other political figures, including Peter Obi, President Bola Tinubu, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Lawal links his assessment of Amaechi’s political direction to what he describes as “personal excessive ambition,” adding that Amaechi appeared to “pair with the devil.” While Lawal offers criticism of Amaechi’s leadership style and political choices, he also says he has no personal hostility toward him. He maintains that his overall personal view of Amaechi as a human being is positive, even while expressing uncertainty about Amaechi’s effectiveness as a leader. The interview frames his comparison as a political judgment rather than an attack on character.
