Nigerian Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 De Ultimate (Kwam1), says that any pregnancy he does not approve is a “promo” or “free gift” from a relationship. He made the remarks during a live performance over the weekend, speaking in Yoruba as he responded to allegations from his former pedicurist, Ogechi. Ogechi accuses Ayinde of abandoning her and their teenage daughter, Azizat Tiwalade Ayinde Marshall. She claims they dated for seven years and that after she became pregnant, he allegedly failed to provide money for an abortion. She also alleges he blocked her from having access to him. In his response, Ayinde frames “unapproved” pregnancies as something that results from a woman’s choice within a relationship, and he uses humor in his delivery. The reports describe that his comments come directly as a rebuttal to Ogechi’s claims about neglect and financial support regarding the pregnancy and their subsequent family situation.
