Multiple outlets report that Netanyahu’s office said he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, describing the meeting as a “historic breakthrough” in Israel-UAE relations and placing it during the period of the Israel-U.S. war with Iran. The UAE, however, rejects the claim, with its official news agency and foreign ministry statements saying the reports are baseless. The UAE also states that its relations with Israel are public and conducted within the framework of the Abraham Accords, adding that they are not based on any non-transparent or unofficial arrangements. Several sources also note that the UAE denial includes an assertion that no Israeli military delegation was received. The issue is reported to have followed related statements by U.S. officials about Israel providing air-defense systems and personnel to operate them in the UAE.
