Former MLB pitcher Chan Ho Park becomes the first Korean to buy a stake in a major league club after joining the Athletics’ ownership group as the team prepares to relocate. Multiple outlets report that Park’s investment consortium, Team61, signs a strategic partnership with the Athletics, currently based in West Sacramento, California, ahead of its planned move to Las Vegas in 2028. The reported investment totals $70 million. Of that amount, $55 million is committed and has been completed as an initial installment, while an additional $15 million is set to be made only if Major League Baseball approves the deal.

As part of the agreement, Park is also named senior adviser to Athletics owner John Fisher, with reports indicating his role includes consultation on areas such as player development and club strategy with a focus on Asia.

Park, 51, pitched for 17 seasons from 1994 to 2010 and is described as the first Korean player in MLB. He is credited with a 124–98 win–loss record across seven clubs.
