Nigeria’s 2027 presidential candidate Peter Obi criticises President Bola Tinubu, saying Tinubu has “turned Aso Rock into a bunker” and is no longer speaking directly to Nigerians. Obi makes the accusation during a live appearance on Channels Television on Sunday, urging the president to come out of the “bunker” and address the public.
Obi argues that effective leadership requires direct communication with the people and questions why the mandate given to Tinubu is not reflected in public statements. He contrasts his own intended approach, saying he would continue engaging Nigerians and would fulfil commitments.
In his remarks, Obi also links the criticism to Tinubu’s absence amid national concerns and points to controversies in government, including claims about “fake agencies.” The comments come as political debate intensifies ahead of the 2027 general election, with Obi speaking as a candidate representing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
