Reports say the building is located beside Tonimas Filling Station in the Amokpala/Amaokpala community near Oko. Sources describe the collapse occurring late Sunday night into the early hours of Monday, when occupants are believed to still be inside. Eyewitness accounts cited by outlets say people heard a loud noise before the structure gave way, after which trapped individuals reportedly shout for help.

Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirms the incident and says a joint security team secures the area and coordinates rescue operations. Emergency responders and security personnel search through the debris, with involvement reported from the Anambra State Police, Anambra State Fire Service, and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), along with other responders and volunteers. Some injured people are reported to have been pulled from the rubble and taken to a hospital in Oko.
