Gunmen abduct a 10-year-old boy from his family home in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State and demand a ransom for his release, reports from multiple outlets say. The incident occurs at about 5:20 p.m. on July 25, when four armed men storm the residence of Bukar Umar in Andarashi village. Sources describe the attackers as using traditional and improvised weapons, including bows and arrows, cutlasses, and sticks.
After taking the boy, identified in one report as Abdullahi Isa, the kidnappers flee to an unknown location. The family later receives a telephone call from the abductors, in which the kidnappers demand ransom. Following the report, police deploy operatives to the area. One source states that the Officer-in-Charge of the State Investigation Department is directed to begin technical tracking of the phone number used by the abductors.
Authorities are working to rescue the child unharmed and to locate and apprehend the perpetrators. Investigations into the abduction are ongoing.
