Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church urges President Bola Tinubu and the presidency to refrain from influencing the upcoming Osun State governorship election. In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele warns against forcing a preferred candidate on voters through illegal means, saying the election is “in God’s hands” and should reflect the will of the people of Osun.
Ayodele also cautions that any attempt to manipulate the outcome could have wider consequences beyond the state. He links the Osun poll to broader national political dynamics, particularly the 2027 presidential election, saying meddling could trigger a national crisis and not end well for Tinubu’s political interests.
In addition, he calls on security agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the military, to be sufficiently present to maintain peace. Ayodele predicts that some groups may have plans to disrupt the election and potentially cause violence, and says the public must be protected.
He further advises candidates to remain vigilant: he urges Governor Ademola Adeleke to prepare against possible manipulation, while advising the APC candidate to avoid dirty politics and violence regardless of the result.
