AstraZeneca India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh enter an agreement to establish a Genomic Solutions Centre in Amaravati. The initiative is aimed at building an integrated precision oncology programme that supports personalised cancer diagnosis and treatment using advanced genomic research. Multiple reports say the centre will use next-generation sequencing, AI, and other genomic technologies to help with early cancer detection and to guide treatment recommendations based on a patient’s genetic profile.
According to one outlet, the project also includes AI-enabled X-ray systems to be installed in government hospitals, with the goal of improving diagnostic quality and support for clinicians. The programme is described as a step toward creating national capability in precision oncology, with implementation focused on applying genomic and computational tools in a healthcare setting.
The Times of India report characterises the arrangement as a memorandum of understanding (MoU), indicating an initial formalisation of plans, while other sources describe the state-level agreement as a pact tied to the Amaravati centre and its associated clinical and technology components.
