Singapore’s Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) says all 900 Singaporean Muslim pilgrims have left for the annual haj pilgrimage. The final group of 300 pilgrims departs early on 14 May for Madinah, Saudi Arabia, MUIS reports. They join more than 600 pilgrims who have already arrived safely in Saudi Arabia. Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Faishal Ibrahim saw the last group off at Changi Airport Terminal 3. He says he is glad that the earlier-departed pilgrims are settling in well. After reaching Saudi Arabia, the pilgrims are expected to complete the haj-related religious obligations in accordance with the pilgrimage schedule. The reports describe the departures as part of Singapore’s organised travel arrangements for the annual haj, with the last batch leaving from Singapore as the previously sent groups continue to settle in Saudi Arabia.
