S&P Global Ratings has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Agusto & Co., a Pan-African credit ratings firm, in a deal intended to strengthen S&P Global’s presence in Africa’s domestic debt markets. The companies announced the transaction jointly and describe it as a strategic partnership that combines Agusto & Co.’s regional market knowledge and operating footprint with S&P Global’s global ratings experience.

Agusto & Co.’s operations include Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana, and the partnership is expected to support the development of local credit markets by improving informed analysis and market dialogue. S&P Global and Agusto & Co. say the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals. They expect the transaction to close in the second half of 2026, pending those approvals.

The financial terms of the agreement are not disclosed. S&P Global also states the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results or on its ratings business, according to the reporting provided.
