The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission appoints Aisha Maina as its Strategic Advisor for Africa-Caribbean Cooperation, effective July 1, 2026. The OECS says the role is intended to strengthen transatlantic South-South collaboration between the Eastern Caribbean and African countries. Maina is the chief executive officer of Nigeria-based Aquarian Consult Limited, and the OECS Commission cites her leadership background across areas including governance, trade, energy, agribusiness, social impact and the creative economy. In her advisory mandate, the OECS says she will work directly with the Office of the Director General to guide policy frameworks and operational strategies aimed at unlocking mutual economic benefits. The OECS Director General, Dr Didacus Jules, welcomes the appointment and highlights Maina’s record and networks across public and private sectors in Africa. Maina says she is privileged to serve in the capacity and points to historical, cultural and economic connections between Africa and the Caribbean as an opportunity to build trade, sustainable growth and lasting partnerships. The OECS describes the move as part of its broader effort to build a more globally connected and economically prosperous OECS community.
