Guyana prosecutors charge the captain and two senior crew members of the MV Barima with multiple counts of murder following the ferry disaster off the Essequibo coast. The accused are identified as Captain Kevin Price (40), Chief Mate Rondell Dwayne Roberts (42), and Goods Superintendent Delon Granderson (33). All three face 72 counts of murder connected to the sinking that killed dozens of passengers, with reports describing it as the deadliest modern maritime disaster in Guyana and noting that more than 100 lives were lost.
The men are brought before a Georgetown magistrates’ court and, according to coverage, are jointly charged.
