Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji names newly constructed government buildings after three former governors: Kayode Fayemi, Ayodele Fayose, and Segun Oni, citing their contributions to the state’s development. The plan is announced by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode. Two of the buildings—those dedicated to Fayemi and Fayose—are scheduled for commissioning on July 31 and August 3, 2026, respectively. A third building, named after Oni, is nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated in October 2026.
Sources also report that the former governors are expected to attend as special guests of honour at the commissioning events and are described as personally inaugurating the projects. The initiative is presented as part of Oyebanji’s ongoing efforts to complete and deliver public projects during his current administration’s “Shared Prosperity” agenda. The announcement further notes that Oyebanji previously carried out a similar gesture in October 2024, when he renamed a remodelled Presidential Lodge after Ekiti’s first civilian governor, Niyi Adebayo.
