Seattle police say they arrest a 15-year-old in connection with a shootout at the Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle. Police Chief Shon Barnes says the teenager was armed with a “ghost gun” with an extended magazine and that the weapon is a 9 mm firearm from Polymer80, a now-defunct company known for making ghost gun parts. Investigators also recovered additional weapons and found shell casings indicating shots were fired with more than one caliber.
The shooting occurred during the weekend festivities and left three people dead and four others injured, including a toddler. Reporting identifies the 19-year-old gunman as one of the fatalities. Authorities say they believe the violence is gang-related and are reviewing surveillance video and interviewing victims and witnesses to determine whether others were involved. Police also say an eighth person who may have been wounded by gunfire checked into a Seattle hospital but left before treatment.
