In his new role, ten Doeschate is tasked with setting the franchise’s strategic direction for cricket across its teams, including responsibilities such as scouting, player recruitment, squad planning, performance evaluation, and player development systems. The Hindu and other reports also note that his national team association ends shortly before the Knight Riders announcement.
Knight Riders Sports outlines additional duties connected to its overseas franchise structure. Reporting indicates he will work as an assistant coach for three Knight Riders teams outside India: Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket. His previous links to the franchise include playing for Kolkata Knight Riders and contributing to IPL title-winning sides as a player (2012 and 2014) and later in a coaching capacity. The appointment takes effect as Knight Riders expands its coaching and analytics functions across leagues.
