The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the immediate suspension and sanction of Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai over his reported attendance at an event linked to the City Boy Movement. The NDC says the Commissioner’s presence at the City Boy Movement’s Lagos chapter inauguration in Ikeja is inappropriate and amounts to partisan conduct. According to the NDC, the event involved political leaders, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and viral videos circulating online show Fatai arriving and exchanging pleasantries with members of the group.
In statements on social media, the NDC condemns the appearance of the police commissioner at what it describes as a partisan event promoting a particular candidate in the upcoming electoral cycle. The party demands that police authorities suspend and sanction the commissioner, and it also asks that he tender his resignation, arguing that his conduct denigrates the institution.
The NDC further calls on police leadership to commit to neutrality in the election and to protect voters and supporters of all parties, ensuring safety of lives and property regardless of political affiliation.
