A flash mob organised by Antaragni, an IIT Kanpur student group, takes place at a mall in Lucknow to mark World Environment Day. About 45 performers dance and interact with shoppers using energetic routines that are paired with sustainability messaging, according to the organiser’s account. The event is designed to encourage eco-friendly habits among members of the public during an ordinary day of shopping. Organisers also distribute more than 200 Tulsi (holy basil) saplings to attendees as part of the awareness effort. By combining live performances with hands-on outreach, the programme aims to translate the environmental theme of the day into practical actions for the wider community. The initiative is presented as an informal but visible public campaign carried out in a commercial setting, where participants and shoppers are invited to engage with the message and take part through the sapling distribution.
