Women’s rights advocates, academics, and student groups file an ethics complaint against Senator Pia Cayetano after she posts a social media video they say is spliced footage of Akbayan party-list Representative and House prosecutor Chel Diokno during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. The complaint is submitted on Wednesday by Patricia “Tatti” Licaunan, former chair of the Commission on Higher Education, along with University of the Philippines Diliman professor Jean Franco (Everywoman co-convenor). Additional signatories include groups and student representatives such as Parents Initiative and Social Awareness Mainstreaming Advocacy, Sanctuary Network, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Public Administration student council president Joahna Marie Dela Cruz, among others. The complainants allege that the video posted by Cayetano misrepresents Diokno’s appearance or statements in the impeachment proceedings. The filings seek an ethics ruling in relation to Cayetano’s conduct surrounding the posting, as the impeachment process remains ongoing.
